Church of Corpus Christi

On June 29, 1964, the first stone for the construction of the new Corpus Christi church in Porto Potenza Picena was laid. The Porto hamlet had already had the church of Sant’Anna since 1926, designed by the architect Eusebio Petetti from Potenza Picena, but the parish priest of the Sant’Anna parish, Father Mauro Carassai, decided on the construction of the new and larger church in Piazza Giulio Douhet. The land had been donated free of charge by Mrs. Gina Casalis, daughter of Senator Bartolomeo Casalis and wife of General Giulio Douhet.

The designer of the new church was the Rome architect Dante Tassotti, while the construction companies that built it were Mercuri from Porto Potenza Picena and the one of Adriano Ceccotti from Potenza Picena. The construction work for the new Corpus Christi church continued until October 31, 1965, when it was inaugurated by the Bishop of Fermo, Mons. Norberto Perini. On December 7, 1996, it was consecrated by Bishop Cleto Bellucci.
