Former Church of St. Catherine of Alexandria Complex

In this complex, restored and inaugurated on November 28, 2003, the "Fototeca Comunale Bruno Grandinetti" (Bruno Grandinetti Municipal Photo Library) has been housed since 2005. It collects the photographic archives of 3 photographers from Potenza Picena. The one the Photo Library is named after; Bruno Grandinetti, who knew how to narrate his land, highlighting its critical issues and improving it with his civil battles. His heirs donated a substantial collection of over one hundred thousand documents, including photographs, negative slides, and glass plates. Then those of Araldo Polidori and Iginio Ceccotti from Porto Potenza, whose heirs donated a substantial collection of negatives, photographs, and glass plates that tell the story of life in the coastal hamlet and neighboring towns. The structure also hosts the headquarters of the local Fotoclub Potenza Picena, which manages the photo library and its three photographic archives.

In the nave of the former Church, we can contemplate three canvases by unknown painters with religious content from the 18th century and a triptych on a wooden panel by Paolo Bontulli di Percanestro from 1507, “Madonna with Child and Saints James the Greater and Roch”, owned by the Parish of Saints Stefano e Giacomo of Potenza Picena, restored in 2013. A masterpiece of sacred art, of rare beauty, not to be missed.

In the complex, we also find a thermal bath from the Roman era and a funerary stone from the medieval-Renaissance period.

In an adjacent room with an arched brick vault is the beautiful location of the "Amici della Musica" (Friends of Music) Association, featuring a beautiful grand piano. The venue is used for both classical and melodic music concerts. The hall is named after Antonio Giannini, the founder of the Association, who passed away years ago.
